What we're doing

Plastic pollution on beach

Here at Plastic Free Long Ashton, we see the damage plastic is having on our environment. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and we’re driven by our commitment to reducing the impact Long Ashton has on the planet through plastic pollution.

Our Vision

To significantly reduce Long Ashton’s contribution to plastic pollution, and to inspire and empower other areas to reduce their plastic use.

Our Objectives

1. To see a reduction in plastics, in particular single-use, used by businesses and residents
2. To see an increase in recycling within the village
3. To raise awareness of issues of plastics and alternatives
4. To become recognised by Surfers Against Sewage as a Plastic Free Community

How we're doing it

Driven by a steering committee which consists of passionate representatives from Long Ashton, we are working with business, organisations and residents to help share our vision and how they can contribute to us meeting our objectives.

We're using a variety of approaches to help educate and inspire people to reduce their plastic use, e.g. writing to businesses, suggesting alternative products, engaging residents in discussions through our Facebook group.

We've not long launched, so please be patient if you're a business or organisation and haven't heard from us yet - we'll get to you soon!
