Plastic Free Long Ashton
Reducing our plastic pollution contribution
Plastic Free Long Ashton wants to spread the message on how we can all contribute to the reduction in plastic pollution. We believe that small actions can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team is working hard to contribute their part to significantly reducing plastic pollution
Here at Plastic Free Long Ashton, we are concerned how destructive plastic can be to our environment. We feel compelled to take action to reduce our contribution to plastic pollution by working with residents, businesses and organisations in Long Ashton.
Spearheaded by Rosie Payne, we officially launched the initiative on the 11th April 2018 with talks from City to Sea, and North Somerset Council. Rosie has always been a keen environmentalist, but felt that there was more we could all be doing: more than sorting our recycling and signing some petitions. Motivated by the interest generated by David Attenborough's Blue Planet II, Rosie decided it was time to issue a call-to-action to Long Ashton. The call was answered and so our journey began...
Our aim is to be recognised as a Surfers Against Sewage "Plastic Free Community".
